My nav DVD is the original that came with the car and is dated 2004. I was trying to find out if a newer version of the DVD would work with older units in the Saab 9-5. It appears the nav unit hasn't changed from MY 2005 through 2009 so my best guess was a newer disk would work fine.
https://www.gmnavdisc.com/ only lists disks for 2007 - 2009 models. It's interesting the DVDs for the 9-5 are also compatible with other GM models.(Corvette/Grand Prix/9-5/STS Navigation Disc). Those come up on eBay quite often and are bit less expensive than ordering new from GM.
I am using the 2009 DVD (25976806) and it works fine. They actually went from 1 to 2 disks (East and West) because they couldn't fit all data on 1 DVD anymore. They are dual-layer DVD's and there is about 8GB on each disk.
I also found a way of making a backup copy on a DVD-R DL so I am using that in the car and keep the original disk at home. The 2005 disk was already scratched up a bit so I can always burn a new copy if needed.
I also got my hands on a 2008 Western Europe map DVD and that one works fine as well. I don't really have a need for it but it is interesting to see Trollhattan on the screen with the Saab Bil museum and Saab ANA as points-of-interests. Unfortunately, it couldn't provide any guidance to drive there from Michigan.

Hello everyone,i have a Mondeo 2006 plate and i have the FORD DENSO 7' TOUCHSCREEN Navigation built in. My DVD ROM drive reads the ORIGINAL 2005/2006 no problem after cleaning it ! I recently bought the West Europe 2010 MAP DVD copy and the UPDATE DVD v4.40 to allow me to run the new MAP DVD. I managed to get the unit to read the UPDATE DVD-R and successfully updated the unit but it will not see any other MAP media that i try. I placed the ORIGINAL DVD back in and no problems !! I tried cleaning the lense with a professional DVD lense cleaner but still no joy. My DVD ROM unit part number is 4M5T-10E887-AE and the date is 26/09/2005 . I have also downloaded the DVD and Update from rapidshare etc and burned them to VERBATIM discs at 1x speed (2.4) using ImgBurn and the correct settings are set to BOOKTYPE and DVD ROM and DVD+R DL etc etc. I have just recently found out that the DVD MAP must NOT have the file LOADING.KWI on the disc , so i am in the process of downloading the files again to try. In the meantime , can anyone tell me which JAGUAR ORIGINAL MAP DVD works in the FORD DENSO system as my unit reads ORIGINAL discs no problem. I have been told that the single DVD 1X43-10E898-AM works and my friend mentioned the 2007/2008 works 1X43-10E898-AK etc. Can anyone out there with the Ford Denso system who is running an upto date Jag Disc please let me know the Jag part number and the Denso part number so i can buy one off Fleabay. The Ford DVD are far too expensive even on fleabay ! The Jaguar dvd map Discs are very reasonably priced cheers Steve .
